Advice

We all have people in our lives that we trust above everyone else. When something happens, these are the people we go to when we need a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk, someone to tell us where it all went wrong. With this in mind, what is the best advice you have ever been given? Did you follow that advice?

I go to my mom for advice. Because in the grand scheme of things, while friends may be friends, my mother wants what is best for me minus the drama, the comedy, the everything. She’s the person I can bring things to and I rarely censor anything I tell her. My favorite advice from her was to keep my head up, no matter what and smile.

It’s really corny, but I feel as if it helps. That, and I smile at the most inopportune times sometimes which is bad. But smiling makes everything just a little bit better. And well, confidence is key in everything. If you can’t even pretend to be confident when you need to be, it’s really very bad. Because then, why would anyone want to listen to anything you say if you can’t even sound as if you believe in yourself?

So, whenever I feel down about something, I try to smile, because not everyone needs to know how completely miserable I am. And if I feel a little unpretty, I keep my head up and tell myself that it doesn’t matter that I look like I stuck my finger in a socket, because I’m the cutest thing ever.

And well, if I smile when I’m arguing with my boyfriend, he finds something else to do. Because everyone wonders how you can smile and be angry at the same time and it never equals up to anything good.

  1. She’s right about keeping your head up and smiling no matter what. It always makes you look better to be the bigger person in a situation. Don’t ever let anyone get you down!
